Today, after a day of relief, petrol and diesel prices have again increased in many districts of the country. Petrol has increased by 27 paise per litre and diesel by 29 paise per litre. Petrol has touched Rs 95.03 per litre and diesel at Rs 85.95 per litre in the capital Delhi today. Petrol is being sold at Rs 101.25 and diesel at Rs 93.10, Kolkata at Rs 95.02 and diesel at Rs 88.80, chennai at Rs 96.47 and diesel at Rs 90.66 per litre today.

According to the report, the price of petrol has reached over Rs 100 in 135 cities in the country. Petrol prices have gone up by 13 per cent this year. Petrol and diesel sales fell nearly 17 per cent in May compared to a month ago, as demand was affected by restrictions imposed to prevent the second wave of corona virus infection. According to statistics, petrol sales fell to 17.9 million tonnes in May, the lowest level in the past year. However, the consumption was about 13 per cent higher than in May last year, 28 per cent lower than corona's earlier level of 24.9 million tonnes.

The demand for the highest used oil (diesel) in the same country fell to 48.9 lakh tonnes in May 2021, down 17 per cent from the previous month and 30 per cent compared to May 2019. Lpg cylinder sales declined by six per cent to 21.6 lakh tonnes year-on-year in May 2021, but six per cent higher than the 20.3 million tonnes sold in May 2019.
