LAHORE: After his brilliant 88 not out off just 41 balls helped the visitors chase down 170 against Pakistan in the sixth T20I, England batter Phil Salt thanked his teammates and management for their support and for providing him with the necessary clarity.

"I'm delighted with the knock because it came at a good time, right when the series was on the line. I am incredibly appreciative of the support I've received from the management and my team. The method they want me to play is pretty obvious. (My best T20I knock) without a doubt, "After the game, Salt said.

The third-fastest fifty by an England batsman in T20Is was achieved by Salt, who had scored 59 runs in five innings while on tour. Salt also brought up the fifty in the opening stand with Alex Hales in just the first three overs of the chase, ensuring the outcome.

"When you feel like you're playing well at the top of the order but have to pick outfielders and figure out how to get out, it may be difficult. I play aggressively, and while I'm wearing an England jersey, I want to win as many games as I can. The goal is straightforward: we want to enter the game on the offensive and put other teams on defence " said Salt.
Salt played aggressively and treated every Pakistani bowler with contempt, scoring 32 runs off of 15 balls against left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz. With his performance, Salt has really pushed for the opening position when white-ball captain Jos Buttler rejoins the lineup.

"The top teams in the world have competition, and you need that. That is something you cannot avoid, and it applies to all sports. Everyone wants to show the instructors how good they are by putting their best foot forward, "said Salt.

Former England cricketer Mark Butcher, who is presently providing commentary for the series in Pakistan, expressed his admiration for how much Salt improved his off-side game in his outstanding performance in Lahore.

"Call it brutal if you must. Some of the hitting was brutally hard, including blows to the ground and flat sixes over square legs. When the hands come through, he can produce startling speed and strike the ball harder than anyone else." "In the past year or so, he has significantly improved his off-side play. He used to be primarily a leg-side player who tried to push everything into the leg-side, but now he has the ability to smash it over extra cover if bowlers go wide to him."
