PHILADELPHIA: A medevac plane crashed in Philadelphia on Friday evening, carrying six people, including a child, four crew members, and one pediatric patient with an escort. The aircraft, operated by Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, went down around 6.30 pm., and while the company has not confirmed any survivors, authorities have been working to assess the situation.

The crash took place in a high-populated area of the city, leading local officials to express concern about potential casualties on the ground. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro said the press at the scene, saying, “We know there will be loss in this region” and offered condolences to those affected. “We want to offer our thoughts and our serious prayers for those that are grieving at this moment,” he added.

The tragedy follows a deadly collision earlier this week between an American Airlines jet and a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter in Washington, DC., which claimed the lives of 67 people.

In a statement, President Donald Trump expressed his grief over the incident on social media, calling it "so sad to see the plane go down in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania," and praised first responders for their efforts.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that 6 people were aboard the plane, which was on the way from Northeast Philadelphia Airport to Springfield-Branson National Airport in Missouri, a distance of about 1,100 miles. Local reports say that the plane crashed near Roosevelt Mall in northeast Philadelphia, with multiple injuries reported on the ground.

A video from local news stations showed the plane in a steep dive before crashing and exploding into a large fireball. Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker, speaking at the scene, confirmed that several houses and cars were caught in the flames.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Weather conditions at the time of the crash were cold and rainy, with low visibility, which may have contributed to the incident.

Firefighters were seen at the scene, working to extinguish the flames, and by two hours after the crash, most of the fire had been put out. No immediate responses have been received from the Philadelphia police or fire departments regarding further details.
