New Delhi: A Public Interest Litigation has been filed in the Delhi High Court to promote the digital economy. The petition has sought a stay on cash transactions of more than Rs 10,000. The petitioner has asked the Modi government in Delhi and the Centre to issue an order within a month.

The petitioner feels that banning cash transactions of more than Rs 10,000 will curb corruption, hurt black money holders, stop Benami transactions. They believe that cash is currently used only in cases of terrorism, Naxalism, gambling, smuggling, money laundering, kidnapping, and ransom. All these crimes will decline after the ban.

The petitioner has said that high-denomination currency is used for wrongdoings. That's why essential items become expensive. This is why gold-silver and home are expensive because of black money. It also affects the Public Distribution System (PDS) and makes it difficult for poor people to live. THE BJP leader and advocate Ashwini Upadhyay has filed the petition.
