Tirupati: With the fall of Krishnashtami on Sunday, the preparations for the festival have started. Since this year also no grand celebrations took place in the temples, people are preparing to perform the ceremonial puja rituals at their homes. People generally visit the famous Sri Krishna Lotus Temple of International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) to worship the Lord during his birth anniversary celebrations. However, due to the Covid pandemic, religious fervor could be seen on a low note.

Though the case load is less now, the Covid restrictions are in place which will not allow devotees to visit the temples during the day. Thereafter, the ISKCON management plans to provide online darshan by the allotted devotees only except for the services of 'Radha Govinda Aastha Sakhi'. The temple authorities have appealed to the devotees to participate in the online celebrations. However, the temple is well decorated to mark the festivities and there will be special darshan of Lord Krishna and his wife on Monday.

People were seen buying flowers, fruits and other items to offer prayers at their homes with pomp on Sunday. The increase in demand has led to a rise in the prices of flowers and fruits. Many parents are eagerly waiting to make their kids 'Little Krishna' avatar. A mother commented that she likes to see her five-year-old son dressed as Sri Krishna as these moments will be cherished for a long time. Many schools had a practice of holding fancy dress competitions for children which has been missing since last year due to the pandemic.
