THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is expected to leave later this month for follow-up treatment at the famed Mayo Clinic in the United States for an "undisclosed" ailment.

His wife Kamala Vijayan and another attendant would accompany him. The CM will be visiting Mayo for the third consecutive time. His new visit follows a blunder on the reimbursement of a trip he took in January of this year, when an order sanctioning roughly Rs 29 lakhs was promptly rescinded due to errors.

When he and his government boast about Kerala having the best medical facilities, the social media is buzzing with activity about his now regular trips to the US for medical treatment.

Angry women expressed their outrage at Vijayan, who claims that Kerala has the best medical facilities, coming to the United States for treatment, after widespread protests against the laying of marker stones for his pet project K-Rail. This time, he intends to depart on April 23 and return the following month.

He will head the weekly online cabinet meeting from his hospital bed, like he did on his previous trip.
