Dehradun: A helicopter has reached Pithoragarh for relief and rescue after the horrific disaster in the frontier of Uttarakhand. When the weather is clear, people trapped in the jungles will be evacuated from other villages including Jarajibali, Lumti and Mori of Bangapani tehsil from Saturday morning. Disaster has wreaked havoc in the area from Tanga in Bangapani tehsil to Metli in Baram. Due to the bridge flowing in Chami, people are not able to come back.

The Kumaon scout has evacuated about three hundred people from nearby villages, including Lumti, using wire and wooden raw bridges, but most of the villagers are not able to come down due to continuous cracking of the hill. These people are sitting in the fields located in the upper parts of the village in the hope of help. People from other villages including Lumti, Mori, Metli and Jarajibali are stranded. On Friday, a helicopter landed in the Mirthi helipad from Dehradun.

Due to continuous rains in Munsiyari and Bangapani areas, the helicopter could not rescue. On Saturday, when the weather is clear, the work of evacuating the people trapped in the villages, and sending ration and other necessary items to them will begin. On the instructions of Collector Dr Vijay Kumar Jogandde, the rescue team is also trying to deliver essential goods to the people trapped in the villages.
