Recently, Google launched new mid-range smartphones, Pixel 3a and 3a XL at I/O 2019. The two devices come as cheaper alternatives to the flagship Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL and promise to be a more realistic option for buyer looking to get into the Pixel ecosystem. However, the Pixel 3a and 3a XL do come with their own set of disadvantages and differences. For example, they have still not been announced as supported devices for the upcoming "next-generation" Google Assistant, and now the company has announced that they will also not be getting Android Q beta support till June -- suggesting they may eventually always lag behind flagship Pixel devices when it comes to beta OS support.

The Android Beta program has been updated to reflect this development, with its page revealing that the two devices won't start supporting Android Q beta updates until June. Having said that, this won't likely be an issue for users in India as the device is scheduled to start sale in the country from May 15 and a wait of 15 more days may not be the worst thing for new buyers of the phone. 

Specifications

The Google Pixel 3a sports a 5.6-inch FHD+ gOLED (2220 x 1080 pixel) display with a pixel density of 441ppi and an 18.5:9 aspect ratio. The Pixel 3a XL, on the other hand, comes sporting a Google Pixel 3a XL will sport a 6-inch FHD+ gOLED (2160x1080p) display with 402ppi and 18:9 aspect ratio. 

Under the hood, the 3a and its bigger cousin come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 octa-core chipset paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. As such, the two feature the same 12.2-Megapixel Dual-Pixel Sony IMX363 sensor with F/1.8 aperture that was seen earlier on the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. Google has announced that they also support features such as night-sight which are found on the more expensive Pixel 3 phones.

However, owing to the fact that the two differ in screen size, Google's has also equipped the 3a and 3a XL with different battery packs. As such, while the former gets a 3000mAh pack, the latter has been announced with a beefier 3700mAh battery unit
