New Delhi: Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Saturday said the Indian government has not yet taken any decision on Air India and the final winner for the acquisition of the airline will be selected through the prescribed procedure. He told the press that, "I am in Dubai from a day ago and I don't think any such decision has been taken. Of course, the bids were invited and these are evaluated by the authorities and in due course.''

Piyush Goyal said there is a fully laid down process for the evaluation of bids through which the final winner will be selected. Goyal was reacting to media reports that TATA's name has emerged as the top bidder for the acquisition of debt-ridden Air India. In a tweet on Friday, Tuhin Kant Pandey, secretary, Department of Investment and Public Property Management (DIPPM), who is responsible for privatisation on behalf of the government, had said that the Centre has not yet approved any financial bid for Air India.

In a tweet, he said, "Media reports sanctioning financial bids by the Government of India in the matter of disinvestment of Air India are incorrect. The media will be informed about the government's decision.''
