Prayagraj: The violence in Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh is gaining political turn. Now a petition has been filed in the Allahabad High Court to investigate the matter by CBI. The petition has been filed on behalf of Swadesh NGO and Prayagraj Legal Aid Clinic. It appeals that if CBI investigates the matter, it should be fully monitored by the High Court.

The petition also demands that strict action be taken against any policeman found guilty in the case. Advocate Gaurav Dwivedi has filed the petition on behalf of the institutions. The petition also said that the role and negligence of police officers sitting in the state capital Lucknow to Lakhimpur should be investigated. In Lakhimpur Kheri, 9 people have lost their lives so far in the violence. The deceased include four farmers, a local journalist and 3 BJP workers.

More than a dozen people are said to be injured in the violence. In fact, on October 3, Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya was on a visit to Lakhimpur Kheri, as per the schedule, where he had to lay the foundation stone of government schemes at Vandana Garden in the district.
