PM Narendra Modi announces Rs 2 lakh ex-gratia for kin of Jammu bus mishap

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Thursday that the of kin of those killed in the bus accident in Thatri, Jammu and Kashmir, will receive an ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh each from the PM National Relief Fund.

A mini bus travelling from Thathri to Doda in Jammu and Kashmir crashed into a gorge at Sui Gwari along the Chenab River on the Thathri-Doda road early this morning, killing eight people and injuring several others. The injured have been taken to the hospital, and a search and rescue operation has begun. The Prime Minister has also announced that those who were injured will receive Rs 50,000 each.

Meanwhile, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said he spoke with Doda Deputy Commissioner Vikas Sharma about the incident. "The injured have been taken to Doda's Government Medical College (GMC). Any additional assistance that is required will be provided "The Union Minister stated.

Earlier today, Jammu Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha directed the district administration to provide immediate relief to the families of the deceased and best medical assistance to the injured following a road accident in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir.
