PM Amit Shah Rajnath Singh pay tribute to Veer Savarkar on his birth anniversary

New Delhi: On the occasion of the Hindutva ideologue Vinayak Damodar Savarkar's birth anniversary, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid respect to him.  "Respectful tribute to Veer Savarkar, the hardworking son of Mother Bharti, on his birth anniversary," PM Modi wrote on Twitter.

Shah went on to say that his unrivalled contribution to the liberation movement and his attempts to eradicate untouchability from society will be remembered for the rest of his life. "In one life, Veer Savarkar ji endured two life sentences, and the horrific tortures of the dungeon did not break his will to bring Mother Bharati to the pinnacle of grandeur," Shah remarked.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh paid tribute to Veer Savarkar, praising him for his "inspiring" role in India's freedom movement. "Veer Savarkar embodied courage, determination, and self-sacrifice. It is inspirational to see how effective he was in India's freedom battle. He dedicated his entire life to the service of his country and community. Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, often known as Veer Savarkar, was born in Nashik on May 28, 1883. He was a civil rights activist, politician, lawyer, and author. Savarkar is credited with coining the phrase "Hindutva."
