After the great victory of BJP in Assam,Prime Minister Narendra Modi called up Sarbananda Sonowal, BJP's chief ministerial face in Assam, and congratulated him and the people of the state for the party's landslide victory.

Sonowal said, “ the Prime Minister told him to convey to the people his best wishes and assured his support for development of the northeastern state where BJP handed a crushing defeat to Congress, which was in power for 15 years.”

Sonowal aforesaid, “he thanked the Prime Minister and told him that BJP could win the support of people of Assam because of Modi's hard work in leading the country in the path of development.”

Previous, Modi phrasd  BJP's victory in Assam as "historic" and "phenomenal" and said the party will do everything possible to fulfill the dreams and ambitions of the people of the state and take its growth journey to new heights.

He too admires, the hard work of BJP workers in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu, saying they put up a "spirited performance".
