During the corona period, Union Minister Sadanand Gowda has told that only to reduce the outbreak of corona on the weak and poor people, PM Narendra Modi has announced to expand the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana. Under this, 5 kg of food grains are being given free per month to poor families. Gowda tweeted, 'To reduce the impact of the coronavirus epidemic on the underprivileged and poor of the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced the extension of PM #GareebKalyanAnnaYojana by the end of November, benefits of free food grains to about 80 crore people will help in lifting

On Tuesday, the PM said that his government will expand the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana by the end of November, under which food grains are being made available to the poor and needy. He said that the festive season is starting from July. Guru Purnima will be celebrated on 5 July. After this the month of Sawan will begin. In this season of festivals, everyone's needs and expenses increase. Keeping this in mind, the PM closer welfare scheme has been extended till Diwali and Chhath Puja i.e. the end of November.

80 crore people will be provided free food grains as a result of this scheme which will now be operational in July, August, September, October and November as well. The government will give 5 kg of wheat or 5 kg of rice free to each family member during these five months. He said that apart from this, each family will also get one kilo of gram free every month. The PM further said that for the expansion of this scheme, additional expenditure of 90 thousand crore rupees will be required.
