The PM Gati Shakti program would improve last-mile connectivity and kick-start a virtuous cycle of private and public investment that will have a multiplier effect on the economy, said Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal.

Last year, the Prime Minister Gati Shakti - National Master Plan was released, with the goal of breaking down departmental silos and bringing in more holistic and integrated project planning and execution to address multi-modal and last-mile connectivity concerns. It's a one-nation, one-master plan, he said, to make prioritization, optimization, and synchronization easier.

This would enable us to bring down logistics costs equivalent to the best in the world,  Goyal said adding that it will also enable industry to place future factories and the center and states to plan utilities.

During a webinar on PM GatiShakti: Creating Synergy for Accelerated Economic Growth, Goyal said, "It will help adopt a holistic approach for comfort of life and ease of business."

Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT), one of the country's greatest ports, has had "extremely bad" connectivity for years due to "awful" design, according to the minister, and that is what this administration is aiming to rectify with this project.
