NEW DELHI: According to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, over 900 data layers from various Central Ministries and Departments have been uploaded to the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan (NMP).

In October 2021, the government introduced PM Gati Shakti, a project to build multimodal connectivity infrastructure to several economic zones. PM GatiShakti NMP is a technology-enabled Geographic information system to support data-based decision-making for integrated planning, synchronised implementation, and project monitoring.

"More than 900 data layers from the relevant Central Ministries and Departments have been uploaded on the NMP since October 2021. Individual portals have been set up with the essential data layers, tools, and functionality for all interested Central Ministries and State governments "the ministry said.

The Ministry recently declared that PM Gati Shakti is not a plan and that no money are thus distributed under it. However, on April 6, 2022, the Department of Expenditure of the Ministry of Finance published the instructions for the "Scheme for Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment for 2022-23." The objective of Part-II of the Scheme is to promote PM Gati Shakti-related investment in the States. Part-II of the Scheme would be funded with Rs 5,000 crore. According to the ministry, states have been made aware of the standards and are working to meet the requirements in order to be eligible for funding under the programme.

PM Gati Shakti now includes 23 Ministries and Departments at the Center. These ministries include well-known ones such as the Ministry of Power, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Ministry of Road, Transport & Highways, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, and many others.
