NEW DELHI: The PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan, introduced in October 2021 to streamline important infrastructure projects and lower logistics costs, won the Excellence in Public Administration-2022 award in the 'Innovation (Central)' category. On Friday, the award was given out during the 16th Civil Services Day Celebration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
At the ceremony, Modi highlighted future goals for line ministries, states, and union territories while praising PM GatiShakti's accomplishments. The use of the one platform, which compiles all infrastructure-related data, was emphasised by the prime minister as being crucial for better planning and execution, particularly in the social sector.
Modi indicated that PM Gati Shakti would help in determining the demands of the populace, dealing with upcoming issues in education, and enhancing communication between offices, districts, and blocks, finally assisting in the creation of future policies. The national master plan currently has the support of all 36 states and union territories as well as more than 30 central ministries or departments, including line ministries for the economic, social, and infrastructural sectors.
The ministry reported that participants have saved time and money, improved planning, gotten clearances more quickly, implemented projects more efficiently, and coordinated cross-ministerial efforts. Between February 20 and April 12, 2023, five regional workshops encompassing all 36 states and union territories were held in places like Goa, Kochi, Srinagar, Guwahati, and Varanasi in an effort to encourage PM GatiShakti's widespread adoption.
