Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, in a recent media interaction talked about the incidents of mob lynching. He asserted that the opposition parties should avoid politicising every issue and must rather concentrate on the unity of the society.

PM Modi affirmed that his party and he himself, have made it clear, very often that they are clearly against such actions (lynching) and such a thought.

He said that on the records, it has been informed that even one single incident extremely

Unfortunate to take place. He added that everyone should realize their role towards the society and should rise above politics to ensure peace and unity in our country.

Talking about efforts that would lead to a reduction in such cases, Prime Minister Modi asserted that it would be a great takeoff to reduce these incidents to just statistics and then get involved in politics over them. That shows a kind of immoral attitude that seeks violence and encouraging criminal activities if you do not try to unitedly stand against it.
The Ministry of Home Affairs reported that 45 persons were killed in the 40 cases of mob lynching that occurred across nine states in a period of 2014 to 2018.
On the July 17, the Supreme Court had asked the central government to execute a law that could tackle incidents of lynching and also check the action on mob violence.
