PM Narendra Modi invites US President, first lady Dr Jill to visit India

New Delhi: President Joseph R. Biden, who was in touch with prominent world leaders after assuming power in the US, held discussions with Indian PM Narendra Modi on Monday. In first official interaction between the two leaders the proposal to visit was made, while discussions were also made on bilateral strategic partnership, and  many other issues were also involved in talks of regional and international importance.

According to the Prime Minister's Office, Prime Minister Modi warmly congratulated President Joe Biden and congratulated him for his term. Simultaneously hoped to pursue Indo-American strategic partnership with them. According to the official statement, the two leaders discussed regional developments and wider geopolitical contexts for a long time. The two leaders were also of the opinion that the friendship between India and the United States is based on common resolve and common strategic interests towards democratic values.

President Biden and Prime Minister Modi also pledged to include like-minded countries to create a free and rule-based system in the Indo-Pacific region. Significantly, the India-US, Japan, and Australia have formed the Quad Group to challenge China's growing aggression in the Indo-Pacific region. While this quartet is emphasizing the freedom of maritime movement in the Indo-Pacific region including the South China Sea, it is also active as a security provider group. In the second phone call after Joe Biden's victory in the US election, PM Modi invited the US President to visit India.
