MARSEILLE: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with French President Emmanuel Macron, has inaugurated the new Indian consulate in the city of Marseille.
Earlier, PM Modi spoke at the AI Action Summit in Paris, where top leaders like EU Commission President Ursula Von Der Leyen, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, and UN Chief Antonio Guterres were also present. During his speech, he stressed the need for investment in training people for an AI-driven future. He also said that good governance means making sure everyone, especially in developing countries, gets equal opportunities.

France has confirmed that India will host the next AI summit after Modi expressed interest. India also assured its full support for France’s AI initiatives.
Later, PM Modi spoke at the India-France CEOs Forum in Paris. He invited businesses from both countries to work together and invest in India. He highlighted India’s progress in manufacturing, infrastructure, and other areas, urging companies to be part of the country’s goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047.

Dinner at Élysée Palace: Modi attended a special dinner hosted by President Macron. Many tech CEOs and top leaders were also invited.
India’s AI Plans: With China making advances in AI technology, India’s IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that India will work on developing its own AI model.
Visit to War Cemetery: In Marseille, Modi paid tribute to Indian soldiers who fought in World War I at the Mazargues War Cemetery.
Trip to Cadarache: Modi and Macron will visit the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) in Cadarache, a major science project.
Thanking Marseille: After arriving in Marseille, PM Modi thanked the city for its role in helping freedom fighter Veer Savarkar escape British custody.
