New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of nine children who tragically died when a wall collapsed in Sagar district, Madhya Pradesh. The incident, which occurred around 8:30 am, was reportedly triggered by heavy rainfall the previous night.
In a statement on X, the Prime Minister’s Office shared Modi's grief: "The accident caused by the wall collapse in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh is heartbreaking. My condolences to the bereaved families of the children who lost their lives. May God give them strength to bear this pain. Along with this, I wish for the speedy recovery of all the injured."
To support the victims' families, PM Modi announced financial assistance of ₹2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for each deceased child’s family and ₹50,000 for the injured.
President Droupadi Murmu also conveyed her sorrow, stating on X, "I am saddened by the news of the death of many innocent children in a heart-wrenching accident in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh. I pray that God gives strength to the bereaved parents and family members to bear this pain. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured children."
In addition to the central government's aid, Madhya Pradesh Minister Govind Rajput announced that the Chief Minister has approved ₹4 lakh in compensation for each deceased child's family and ₹1 lakh for the injured. The state administration is actively involved in managing the aftermath of the collapse.
District Collector Deepak Arya confirmed that rescue operations are underway. "Nine children have died in the incident. Two others have been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment," Arya reported. The local police and rescue teams have been working tirelessly to provide assistance and support to the affected families.
