New Delhi: A Mumbai-bound bus caught fire after colliding with a trailer truck this morning, killing at least 11 passengers, including a toddler, and injuring over 20, with the injured being brought to a hospital, police said.

After the tragedy, President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed their condolences for the death in the early-morning Saturday.

An Ex gratia for the surviving relatives of the deceased was also announced by Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Shinde.

"I am shocked to hear that a bus fire in Nashik claimed the lives of numerous individuals. I send my sincere sympathies to the families of those who died in this catastrophe. In a tweet, President Murmu wished those who were injured and prayerd for their fast recovery.

"Anguished by the bus tragedy in Nashik," the prime minister's office tweeted. My heart goes out to everyone who has lost a loved one in this accident. May the injured person heal as soon as possible. The local government is helping people affected in every way it can.

The Prime Minister also announced that the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) will grant Rs 50,000 to individuals injured in the accident and Rs 2 lakh in ex-gratia to the families of the deceased.

The next of kin of each deceased person will receive an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh, according to Chief Minister Shinde. In addition, Shinde said that the state government will cover the cost of the wounded parties' medical care.

Nashik district guardian minister Dadaji Dada Bhuse said, the passenger bus was travelling from Yavatmal to Mumbai when it collided with the truck, which was travelling from Nashik to Pune. "All of the injured are receiving treatment in Nashik, and the state government will cover all of their medical costs. The next of kin of those who perished in this tragic occurrence would receive an ex gratia payment of Rs 5 lakh each, as declared by the chief minister. Bhuse said that I will also be visiting the area to evaluate the situation.

The collision involved a trailer truck and a luxury bus. As a result of the impact, a fire started. So far, 11 people have died. Thirty people left Yavatmal, and 19 of them boarded the bus in the middle of the journey. They are being identified, according to Jayant Naiknavare, the police chief of Nashik.

The official stated that Colletor, the Municipal Commissioner, and the Police Commissioner are all present to coordinate rescue efforts.

To provide and receive additional information about the accident victims, Nashik Administration has established a control room and provided the district civil hospital and disaster management with contact numbers.

Offering his condolences to the families, the deputy chief minister Devendra Fadanavis stated, "Deeply disturbed to know about the unfortunate accident involving a private bus and tanker in Nashik. Sincere sympathies to the families of the deceased. praying for the injured to heal quickly.

He also said that MLA Devyani Pharande Tai was present at the hospital for coordination and that all injured people had been admitted to Civil Hospital and received prompt aid. Amit Shah, the minister of state for the interior, also sent his sympathies to the departed's families.

"A tragic traffic tragedy occurred in Nashik, Maharashtra. I extend my condolences to the families of those who perished in this terrible catastrophe and wish the injured a speedy recovery," Shah added.
