Ghaziabad: On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the 50th Raising Day of Central Industrial Security Force at CISF Camp at Indirapuram in Ghaziabad. Addressing the CISF personnel at the gathering, PM Modi said, "Your achievement is important because when our neighbour is hostile, incapable to fight a war, conspiracies to hit the nation internally find a safe haven there and terrorism shows its face in different forms, then protecting the nation becomes challenging."

It is to be noted that lauding the efforts of the CISF personnel, PM Modi said, "CISF plays an important factor in fulfilling the dreams of an independent India." He further said, "Easier to protect individual but difficult to protect institution where there is daily footfall of 30 lakh." VIP culture sometimes creates hurdle in security architecture, the PM also said. During his speech, the Prime Minister also said, "If the citizens do not cooperate with you, then your (CISF's)  task become more difficult. Hence, it's important that the citizens are also trained as well."

However, PM Modi also praised the CISF personnel for their contributions during national emergencies and disaster, such as the Kerala floods last year where the CISF personnel helped in rescuing thousands of people. "The CISF personnel have carried out their responsibilities not only at a time of national crisis but even during the time of humanitarian crisis in other countries," he said.

Earlier, PM Modi had met the personnel of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBP) and the Border Security Force (BSF) at their base camps. The CISF, which functions under the Union Home Ministry, is one of the six paramilitary forces in the country. It celebrated its Golden Jubilee this year. It was established in 1969. The 1.56 lakh-strong force of CISF provides security to 345 important installations including 61 airports, nuclear and space installations, seaports, Delhi Metro and various steel and power plants.
