New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the automotive industry to adopt global best practices and focus on green, clean mobility during his speech at the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) annual convention.

In his address, Modi emphasized that the automotive sector is pivotal for driving economic growth and should align with the country's vision of achieving "Viksit Bharat" (Developed India) by 2047. He expressed confidence that organizations like SIAM will unite stakeholders and act as a driving force in this mission.

"The path forward requires rapid yet sustainable progress," Modi said. "Working towards greener and cleaner mobility is essential, and this vision should resonate with both domestic and international partners."

He added that, at this crucial time for India and the global community, it is important for the Indian auto sector to set a benchmark and incorporate global best practices. Modi believes that the discussions at the convention will act as a catalyst for these improvements.

Modi highlighted the remarkable growth of India's automotive sector over the past decade, noting it as a reflection of the country's broader economic expansion. "The success of Indian mobility is impressive, with the development of advanced infrastructure such as expressways and high-speed railways enhancing multi-modal connectivity across the nation," he said.

He concluded that this comprehensive approach ensures that the benefits of growth are widely shared and not limited to a few.
