Jammu: In a fervent address at a rally in Jammu on September 28, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a sharp attack on the Congress party, accusing it of being completely controlled by “Urban Maoists” who exploit foreign infiltrators as “vote banks” while disregarding the struggles of their own citizens.

PM Modi emphasized that Congress has failed to honor the sacrifices of India’s brave soldiers, stating, “Today, the party is hijacked by urban Maoist sympathizers, who welcome foreign infiltrators as ‘vote banks’, while mocking the sufferings of our own citizens.” He further criticized the Congress, National Conference, and PDP for their historical injustices towards the people of Jammu, claiming they are willing to do anything for political appeasement.

“Their anger stems from the positive changes occurring in Jammu and Kashmir. They are opposed to your development and are vowing to reinstate the old, discriminatory regime that has victimized Jammu. These parties can do anything for appeasement and make baseless allegations to defame our Dogra heritage,” he asserted.

Highlighting the detrimental impact of Congress’s policies, Modi stated that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have endured hardship due to the party’s neglect. “For decades, these parties have prioritized their leaders' interests while our people have suffered greatly. Congress bears significant responsibility for the decline and exploitation of generations through flawed policies,” he added.

The Prime Minister also condemned Congress for questioning the credibility of India’s military, particularly regarding the surgical strikes carried out against Pakistan in 2016. “Can we forgive such betrayal? Never!” he exclaimed, recalling how the BJP government responded decisively to threats.

Further criticizing Congress, Modi accused the party of undermining the spirit of the Constitution. “Many families here have lived for generations without the right to vote, a right denied to them by Congress, NC, and PDP,” he stated.

As Jammu and Kashmir heads into assembly elections after a decade-long hiatus, with the first phase of polling already completed, PM Modi reiterated the BJP’s commitment to undoing injustices faced by the people, promising to leave no stone unturned in their efforts for prosperity and progress. The final phase of polling is scheduled for October 1, with vote counting set for October 8.
