Egyptian President expresses confidence in India's G20 presidency

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi attended the 74th Republic Day parade of India as the chief guest. He was the first President of Egypt to be invited to the Republic Day parade. Abdel Fattah has come on his India visit from 24-27 January. The Ministry of External Affairs has said in a statement that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has expressed confidence in India and said that the G20 under the chairmanship of New Delhi can succeed in achieving its goal.

Chief Guest of the Republic Day Parade, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday and the two countries decided to work together under the chairmanship of India and reiterated that the interests and priorities of the Global South should be taken care of. It is necessary and both countries focus on major global fora including G20.

Amidst the Republic Day parade, a contingent of the Egyptian Army also marched towards the Saluting Platform on the line of duty for the first time. The Egyptian contingent, led by Colonel Mahmoud Mohamed Abdel Fattah El Kharsawi, has also represented the main regiments of the Egyptian Armed Forces. 144 soldiers joined the contingent.

On the other hand, the Egyptian army spoke about the honor and privilege of participating in the Republic Day parade of India. Also, the Egyptian contingent carried forward the legacy of one of the oldest regular armies known to humanity. After the parade, President Sisi attended an 'At Home' reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan, which was hosted by President Draupadi Murmu.
