On Sunday, a factory in the grain market of the capital Delhi caught fire at 5.22 am, killing 43 people and injuring many others who have been admitted to other hospitals including RML, Hindu Rao. The death toll could rise further as the condition of many people is still critical. The magnitude of the incident can be gauged from the fact that 30 fire engines were engaged in extinguishing the fire.

According to the media report, quoting the Chief Fire Officer present on the spot, it has been told that when the fire department got information about the fire, only it was told that a building was on fire. Those who gave information did not say that many people were trapped there. According to the officer, if there was information that such a large number of people are also trapped in the building, then we would have reached the spot with more preparation. It is believed that if the right information was received in advance, many more lives could have been saved.

For your information, tell us tell you that in the grain market area where the incident took place, the streets were very narrow and there was no water source around which the fire workers had to face difficulties. Since, only one train could go inside at the scene, it also delayed the relief operations. Since the factories in the house were connected, the fire spread rapidly. The magnitude of the incident can be gauged from the fact that relief work is going on for more than four hours. Not only this, the help of NDRF has also been sought.
