UNA-Himachal Pradesh: Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the Vande Bharat Express from Una railway station on Thursday during his visit to the mountain state.

Jairam Thakur, the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, Ashwini Vaishnaw, the minister of railways, and Anurag Thakur, a union minister and the representative for Hamirpur, were also present at the occasion.


Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said, It is the fourth Vande Bharat train, running from Amb Andaura to New Delhi, that has been introduced in the country and is an advanced version compared to the earlier ones, being much lighter and capable of reaching higher speed in shorter duration. It takes only 52 seconds to reach 100 km/h. The installation of the train will increase tourism in the area and offer a convenient and quick way of transportation.

The new Vande Bharat Express, which ushers in a new era of luxurious and improved rail travel experiences, is now prepared for a commercial run. The other three Vande Bharat trains in the nation travel between Gandhinagar and Mumbai, between New Delhi and Varanasi, and between New Delhi and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra. This is the fourth Vande Bharat train in the nation.

In order to make travel safer and more comfortable, the new Vande Bharat trains have upgraded features like reclining seats, automatic fire sensors, CCTV cameras, on-demand content with wifi, three-hour battery backup, and GPS systems.

By the end of August 2023, The Integral Coach Factory hopes to have built 75 Vande Bharat trains. In the roof-mounted package unit (RMPU), also contains a photocatalytic UV air purification system.
