NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged Indians on Monday to make the "panch pran" (five pledges) for a developed country and to work toward realising the goals of the freedom fighters by 2047, the 100th anniversary of India's independence.
The Prime Minister outlined the five commitments the nation has to concentrate on for the next 25 years while addressing the nation on the 76th anniversary of Independence Day from the Red Fort's ramparts.
"The first pledge is to move forward with bigger resolves and resolve of developed India. The second pledges is to eliminate all traces of servitude. Even if we witness the smallest things of servitude, within us or nearby us, we have to throw away them. The third pledge is to take pride in our legacy. Fourth pledge is the power of unity for our dreams of One India Excellent India . The fifth pledge is the duties of citizens which include the Prime Minister and the Chief Ministers also. This is a significant life strength for realising the nation's goals over the next 25 years "said the prime minister.
The Prime Minister (PM) visited the Red Fort after arriving there and viewed the inter-services and police Guard of Honour, which was posted in front of the National Flag across the moat below the walls.
Prime Minister Modi hoisted the flag in preparation for his address to the nation. Flower petals were showered at the venue in Amrit Formation by two MI-17-1V Helicopters
Two MI-17 1V Helicopters dropped flower petals at the event in Amrit Formation. The Air Force band, that consists of 20 men played the National Anthem during unfurling of the National Flag and presenting of the 'RashrityaSalute'. The unfurling the National Flag was synchronised with the 21 Gun Salute fired by the valiant gunners of the elite 8711 Field Battery.
