PM Modi Honors Tilak on 103rd Death Anniversary, Receive Lokmanya Tilak National Award Today

New Delhi: In commemoration of the 103rd death anniversary of Lokmanya Tilak, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid his respects. Through a post on his official Twitter handle, PM Modi expressed his homage on Tilak's Punya Tithi. Today, he will be visiting Pune, where he is scheduled to inaugurate several development projects. Notably, during the event, he will also be honored with the prestigious Lokmanya Tilak National Award, sharing the stage with Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Sharad Pawar.

The Lokmanya Tilak National Award, instituted by the Tilak Smarak Mandir Trust in 1983, is a tribute to Lokmanya Tilak's contributions to the progress and development of the nation. Each year, on August 1st, the award is presented to individuals who have made extraordinary and remarkable contributions to the nation. PM Modi will be the 41st recipient of this prestigious award, joining the ranks of luminaries such as Shankar Dayal Sharma, Pranab Mukherjee, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Indira Gandhi, Manmohan Singh, NR Narayana Murthy, and E Sreedharan, among others.

The day's schedule for the Prime Minister includes a visit to the Dagdusheth Mandir for Darshan and Pooja at around 11 am, followed by the award ceremony at 11:45 am. Afterward, at 12:45 pm, PM Modi will inaugurate metro trains and lay the foundation stone for various development projects, according to the official statement from the PMO.
