New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh University in Aligarh on Tuesday. Addressing the gathering on the occasion, he also mentioned a Muslim lock salesman from Aligarh who used to be a friend of his father. Narrating the story of his childhood in Aligarh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "Muslim salesmen from Aligarh used to come to our village every three months. I still remember their coming wearing a black jacket. As a salesman, theu used to come every three months. He was well friends with my father.

He further said, "They used to come and stay in the village for two or four days. They also used to do business in nearby villages. My father used to handle money. Then when the left the village, he would take their money. Prime Minister Modi said, "I heard the names of Sitapur and Aligarh when i was a child. If someone had eye diseases, people used to say go to Sitapur for treatment. Aligarh's name was heard because of these Mahasaya (father's friends). '

PM Modi also said that till now people used to rely on Aligarh locks to protect their houses and shops. Now, Aligarh's weapons will protect the border of the country. Here, Prime Minister Modi was referring to the Defence Corridor, which he laid the foundation stone of Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh. PM Narendra Modi arrived in Aligarh on Tuesday. Here, Prime Minister Modi inspected the model of Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh University and laid the foundation stone of the University. In addition, the foundation stone of the defence corridor was also laid.
