PM Modi govt allocated Rs 360 crore for Buddhist Circuit

On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that India has been historically nonviolent and had never attacked any other country. PM stated this while delivering a speech at an inaugural function of Buddha Jayanti celebrations organised by the Ministry of Culture.

During the event, the Prime Minister said that Indian tradition, culture, and history are proof that we have never been the offenders. We have never attacked any country. Indian religions are inclusive and tolerant, quotes ANI.

In his speech, he further highlighted that India has never been an offender and that religious beliefs born in India have forever been considerate of others. Prime Minister Modi said that Lord Buddha's kindness has won him to millions. Leading to this he further added that the central theme of all religious thoughts born in India focuses on tolerance.

In his statement, he said, "Indian religions never force anyone to come and join them, neither they show kindness to only those who are in the fold, they are for everyone,"

Prime Minister was accompanied by Culture Minister Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju and International Buddhist Confederation (IBC) Secretary-General Dr. Dhammapiya in Buddha Jayanti celebrations event.

During the event government has allocated over Rs 360 crore for Buddhist Circuit. Buddha Purnima is being celebrated across the country to mark the birth of Gautam Buddha, the founder of Buddhism.
