Lucknow:  Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leading in 57 seats out of the total 80 Lok Sabha seats in the state in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. In one of the key elections in the state, BJP’s veteran leader and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh was leading in Lucknow Lok Sabha seat.

As per latest trends, Home Minister was leading the race with a total of 2,41,208 votes, almost 56.95% of the votes counted till now. On the other hand, SP leader, Poonam Sinha was placed at second position with 1,22,905 votes. 

In the meantime, Congress candidate Acharya Pramod Krishnam was trailing in the third place with a total 72,138. On the other hand, the Samajwadi Party-Bahujan Samaj Party (SP-BSP) alliance was together leading in 19 seats, with SP ahead in 8 seats and BSP leading in 11 seats.

In 2014 Lok Sabha election, the Saffron Party had won 71 seats, while ally Apna Dal had won 2 seats. The Samajwadi Party had won 5 seats and the BSP had failed to even open its account. While Congress had won 2 seats five years ago. 

According to the latest trends, the BJP-led NDA appeared set to return to power with a bigger majority than 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Trends suggested that the NDA was leading in 346 seats, UPA on 95 seats and others in 103. 

Rajnath Singh took to his twitter handle and said that he spoke to PM Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah and congratulated them for BJP-led NDA's "stupendous victory" in the 2019 elections. In a series of tweets, Singh praised the leadership of Modi and Shah and also thanked the voters for giving a "decisive mandate" to BJP-led NDA.
