On Friday, PM Narendra Modi assured the farmers of the country that the agricultural reforms bill passed by the Lok Sabha will serve as a defence shield for them and new provisions are laid down under which they will be able to sell their crops at the same price as they wish in any market in the country. PM accused the opposition parties, especially the Congress, of opposing these bills and trying to mislead the farmers.

He also appealed to the farmers not to be confused and to be alert. On Friday, Modi said this in his address after dedicating the historic Kosi Rail Bridge to the nation and inaugurating 12 railway projects for the facilities of railway passengers in Bihar. The PM said, "The historic agricultural reforms bill has been passed in the Lok Sabha on Vishwakarma Jayanti. These bills were very important to protect the farmers from the middlemen, who take a large part of the farmer's earnings themselves. These bills have come as a defence shield for the agriculturists".

He further said that "Those who have been in power for decades and ruled India are trying to mislead the farmers on this subject and lie to them". The PM said that "These people are doing politics regarding the APMC Act. And they are opposing the change in the provisions of the agriculture market, the same change was also written by these persons in their manifesto. But now that the NDA Government has made these changes, these people have come down to oppose it".
