Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad, Gujarat today. With this, he inaugurated several programs related to "Independence of Amrut Mahotsav." In fact, on this day in 1930, Mahatma Gandhi started the Dandi Yatra. Now the Government of India is organizing several programs to celebrate the 75th anniversary of independence through "Amrit Mahotsav". All these programs were inaugurated by PM Modi. Today, he flag offed a padayatra from Sabarmati Ashram which started from Ahmedabad to Navsari to Dandi. After reaching Sabarmati Ashram, the Prime Minister wrote his thoughts in the diary.

He wrote in the diary, “Coming to the Sabarmati Ashram, the resolve to build a nation is strengthened by the inspiration of Pujya Bapu. When we are united by the sacred environment and the memories here, then the feeling of austerity and renunciation naturally increases. Gandhiji also gave a message of self-reliance and self-respect from the Sabarmati Ashram.”

He further wrote, “I feel blessed to come back to this holy place for inspiration, for the commencement of the Amrit Festival of Independence. The Amrit Mahotsav of Independence is a celebration given by the grateful countrymen to the freedom struggle of India. During this festival, the country will not only remember every step, every important moment of its freedom movement, but will also move forward with new energy to build the future. I am confident that with the blessings of Pujya Bapu, we Indians will definitely fulfill the objectives of Amrit Mahotsava while performing our duties.”
