New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to take a call on waiving off farmers’ loan following a huge crush in recently concluded Assembly elections of 5 states. The decision is expected to be taken keeping in mind the next 2019 Lok Sabha elections, in order to entice the farmers. BJP had to lose power in three major Hindi belt states that is Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan; where majority of the people are dependent on farming.

Worth mention here the Congress has declared waving off farmer loan in these three states and had accused BJP of being anti-farmer. As per political experts, farmer sorrow is the reason behind BJP’s trounce.

Sources suggested that, the government will soon bring a policy which would wave off the loan of country’s 26.3 crore farmers and the people dependent on them.

It is noted that Earlier, UPA government had waved off Rs 72,000 crore in 2008; this helped them and the party came to power in 2009.

As per farmer leader Dharmendra Malik in Uttar Pradesh, the reason behind BJP’s defeat in Assembly states is farmer’s annoyance. “The farmers have expressed their anger towards PM Modi by defeating them”.
