Singapore [Singapore], Jun 2 (NT): On the third and last leg of his Singapore visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met  US Secretary of Defense James N. Mattis in Singapore on Saturday.

Earlier he met former Singaporean premier and Emeritus Senior Minister (ESM) Goh Chok Tong here  as ANI reported.

The two leaders held conventions on issues of mutual interest.

Worth mention here ESM Goh served as the country's second prime minister from 1990 to 2004. Earlier he also served as the deputy prime minister of Singapore from 1985 to 1990.

It is also noted that ESM Goh has also served in a number of cabinet berths under the first Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew and most especially as Senior Minister under incumbent Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong's cabinet from 2004 to 2011.

After the meeting, Prime Minister Modi will uncover the commemorative inscription marking the immersion site of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi's ashes at Clifford Pier.

Prime Minister Modi will then hold a talks with US Secretary of Defence Jim Mattis.

Prime Minister Modi will then visit the National Orchid Garden. This is located within the Singapore Botanic Gardens. It is the only tropical garden to be listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Prime Minister will also pay a visit to Chuliya Mosque, one of the oldest mosques of Singapore located in Chinatown. It has been the country's national monument since 1974.
