New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi met Japanese PM Yoshihide Suga in the US capital Washington DC on Thursday. Talks between the heads of state of Asia's two economic superpowers discussed various issues promoting India-Japan cooperation. Meanwhile, PM Modi described Japan as the most important partner.

PM Modi, who arrived in the US on a three-day visit, said the strong India-Japan friendship augurs well for the world. After meeting his Japanese counterpart, PM Modi tweeted, 'Japan is one of India's most valuable partners. I had an excellent meeting with PM Yoshihide Suga on various topics, which will further promote cooperation between our countries. A strong India-Japan friendship is good for the whole world.'

PM Modi and his Japanese counterpart Yoshihide Suga had a meaningful meeting in Washington. In it, he spoke on a number of issues, including ways to further boost trade and cultural relations. The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) tweeted, "A meaningful meeting of PM Narendra Modi and PM Yoshihide Suga was held in Washington DC, furthering friendship with Japan. The two leaders discussed a number of issues, including ways to further accelerate trade and cultural relations.''
