PM to inaugurate 'Atal Bridge' over Sabarmati during two-day visit to Gujarat

Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a two-day visit to Gujarat from today. PM Modi will inaugurate the Atal Bridge for pedestrians on the Sabarmati river in Ahmedabad. On the first day of his visit, PM Modi will address a rally at the Khadi Utsav event organised at the Sabarmati riverfront in the evening, the state government said. He will then inaugurate the foot-over bridge constructed by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation from the same location. The bridge is named after former Prime Minister and BJP veteran Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Equipped with attractive designs and LED lights, the bridge is about 300 metres long and 14 metres wide and connects the flower garden at the western end of the riverfront and the art and culture centre being prepared at the eastern end, according to a release issued by the state government. Apart from pedestrians, cyclists can also use this bridge to cross the river. 2,600 metric tonnes of steel pipes have been used to prepare this bridge and the railing has been prepared from glass and steel.

Pm Modi will address the Khadi Festival at Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad at around 5:30 pm today. The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) has said that Modi will address the Khadi Utsav celebrations at Sabarmati riverfront in Ahmedabad on August 27 at the beginning of his visit and will also attend an event organized on Suzuki company's 40-year journey in India in Gandhinagar the next day.
