India:On Wednesday, PM Narendra Modi give tribute to the martyrs who lost their lives in the Jallianwala Bagh bloodshed. PMO tweeted,“Saluting all the martyrs who lost their lives in the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Their sacrifice & courage can never be forgotten,”

97 years ago, on April13 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre took place, when crowd of non-violent protestors, with Baisakhi, gathered at Bagh,Amritsar , Under the command of colonel Reginald Dyer ,armed forces of the British Indian Army, were fired upon.

UK PM David Cameron during his visit to Amristsar in February 2013 , had written in the visitors’ book saying-“This was a deeply shameful act in British history, one that Winston Churchill rightly described at that time as ‘monstrous’. We must never forget what happened here and we must ensure that the UK stands up for the right of peaceful protests.”
