New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent Holi greetings to his countrymen on Friday, wishing that the celebration bring all colours of happiness into people's lives.

"I Wish you all a very Happy Holi. May this festival of colors, a symbol of mutual love, affection and brotherhood, bringing you every color of happiness in your life," the Prime Minister sent out message  in a tweet.

President Ram Nath Kovind also expressed his best wishes on the occasion ""The festival of colours, Holi, is a celebration of harmony in our society," he wrote on Twitter. May it bring everyone happiness, joy, and success."

Holi, a festival of colours that heralds the arrival of spring, is a celebration of joy and the triumph of good over evil. Although Holi is primarily a Hindu celebration, it is also observed by people of various faiths. It heralds the start of the country's spring harvest season. People enjoy lip-smacking sweets, thandai, and splashing coloured powder, water, and balloons while shouting "Holi Hai" during the event.
