New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who began his third term on Monday, swiftly initiated his government's agenda by signing the release of the 17th installment of the 'PM Kisan Nidhi' scheme, aimed at supporting the agricultural community. The installment, amounting to approximately Rs. 20,000 crore, is expected to benefit 9.3 crore farmers across the country.

"Ours is a Government fully committed to Kisan Kalyan. It is therefore fitting that the first file signed on taking charge is related to farmer welfare. We want to keep working even more for the farmers and the agriculture sector in the times to come," PM Modi stated after signing the file.

Empowering Farmers through PM Kisan Nidhi

The release of the 17th installment of the PM Kisan Nidhi will benefit around 9.3 crore farmers nationwide, with a total distribution of approximately Rs. 20,000 crore.

Highlighting a vision for continued progress in the agricultural sector, PM Modi underscored the government's ongoing efforts and future initiatives aimed at enhancing farmer livelihoods and promoting agricultural growth.

By prioritizing farmer welfare in its first executive action, the new government has sent a clear message of its unwavering commitment to the well-being and prosperity of farmers, a crucial pillar of India's agrarian economy.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was sworn in for his third consecutive term on June 9, alongside 71 other members of his Council of Ministers. The ceremony took place at Rashtrapati Bhavan's forecourt. Out of the 81 slots available in the Union Council of Ministers, a significant group of 72 members was sworn in, underscoring a coalition government that balances both continuity and change. The BJP’s allies in the NDA have been given 11 portfolios, reflecting their sizable representation.
