Prime Minister Narendra Modi has shared his vision about ASEAN-India partnership in an op-ed piece titled, " ASEAN-India: Shared values, common destiny". The article has been published in the leading dailies from the ASEAN member nations. The Prime Minister wrote that the presence of the ASEAN leadership in Delhi was no ordinary event but a historic landmark in the journey of India-ASEAN ties.

The Prime Minister highlighted the fact that the basic strength of the relationship stems from the fact that there are no contests and claims that come to blows with each other. He said that a common vision for the future and belief in equality further binds the nations together./

Though ASEAN-India ties are 25years old, the bonds of special association stretch back more than two millennia. The threads connecting two regions are from fields such as religion and culture, art and commerce, language and literature and are now deeply entrenched in the respective societies.

Further Prime Minister Modi once again reached out to the ASEAN nations for increased investment in India. He exuded confidence that ASEAN will be an integral part of New India’s transformation. Prime Minister listed the current times as apt for deeper ties between India and ASEAN, adding that both have opportunities and responsibilities to chart a steady course for a stable future.
