Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to participate in the upcoming All India Conference of Director Generals and Inspector Generals of Police in Jaipur, Rajasthan. Scheduled for January 6-7 at the Rajasthan International Centre, this annual three-day event will address various critical issues faced by law enforcement agencies.

The Prime Minister's Office confirmed PM Modi's attendance, highlighting the conference's agenda focusing on multiple challenges such as artificial intelligence (AI), cyber security, counter-terrorism, left-wing extremism, and drug trafficking.

During the event from January 5 to 7, discussions will encompass a wide spectrum of law enforcement and security concerns. Topics will include cybercrime, technology implementation in policing, counter-terrorism strategies, left-wing extremism, and reforms within the prison system, among others, as mentioned in an official statement.

A pivotal point of discussion will be the roadmap for executing new criminal laws recently sanctioned by Parliament. Furthermore, the conference aims to explore futuristic policing and security themes, addressing the threats posed by emerging technologies like AI and deep fakes, seeking effective approaches to combat them.

This gathering serves as a platform to identify actionable steps and monitor their progress, a report of which is annually presented to the Prime Minister. Notably, this conference involves rigorous discussions among police and intelligence officers from district, state, and national levels on selected themes, showcasing successful practices from different states and union territories to encourage shared learning.

PM Modi's involvement in these conferences has been comprehensive since 2014. Rather than making symbolic appearances, he actively participates in major sessions, attentively listening to inputs and fostering an open environment for informal discussions, encouraging the generation of new ideas, as stated by the Prime Minister's office.

This year's conference plans to facilitate unrestricted thematic discussions during breakfast, lunch, and dinner, allowing senior police officials to freely express their perspectives and recommendations on crucial national security and policing issues to the Prime Minister.

Since 2014, PM Modi has advocated for annual DGP conferences nationwide, held at various locations including Guwahati, Dhordo, Rann of Kutch, National Police Academy Hyderabad, BSF Academy Tekanpur, Kevadiya, IISER Pune, Police Headquarters Lucknow, and the National Agricultural Science Complex, PUSA, Delhi in 2023. Continuing this tradition, this year's conference is convened in Jaipur.

The conference will witness the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Minister of State for Home Affairs, Cabinet Secretary, high-ranking officials from the Government of India, DGP of States/UTs, Heads of Central Armed Police Forces, and Central Police Organisations, among other dignitaries.
