NEW DELHI: This Independence Day is likely to see key announcements including "Heal by India" and "Heal in India" projects in the health sector by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
PM Modi's speech from the Red Fort today, August 15 may also mention the expansion of the National Health Mission under a new name, "PM Samagra Swasthya Mission".
Under the "Heal in India" campaign, the medical infrastructure at 37 institutions in twelve states will be strengthened with in bid to establish the nation as a major destination for wellness and medical travel.
The project's highlights also include simplified visa requirements for foreign patients and their companions, bilingual portal, interpreters and special desks at 10 selected airports, and more.
The government has selected 44 nations, primarily in Africa, Latin America, the SAARC, and the Gulf, from whom a sizeable population travels to India for medical care.
They said that the cost and level of medical care in these nations were also taken into account.
Similarly, the Health Ministry is creating an online directory of medical specialists, such as doctors, nurses, and pharmacists, as part of the Heal by India project. The Heal by India project seeks to promote India as a reliable supplier of skilled workers for the global health industry.
