GUWAHATI: India Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to inaugurate the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Guwahati today, April 14.

The Prime Minister will reach AIIMS Guwahati by  noon and inspect the medical center's newly constructed campus. At a public function, th PM  will dedicate AIIMS Guwahati and three other Medical colleges to the country.

Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) cards will be distributed to qualified recipients as part of the "Aapke Dwar Ayushman" campaign. The PM will alsoo lay the cornerstone for the Assam Advanced Health Care Innovation Institute (AAHII).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the event commemorating the Guwahati High Court's platinum jubilee celebrations at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati at around 2:15 PM.

For the state of Assam and the broader North-East region, the opening of AIIMS, Guwahati, will be a historic moment. This demonstrates the Prime Minister's determination to improve the nation's health infrastructure. In May 2017, the Prime Minister also laid the cornerstone for this hospital.

The state-of-the-art hospital AIIMS Guwahati, built for more than Rs. 1120 crores, has 750 beds total, including 30 AYUSH beds. 100 MBBS students will be able to enrol in this hospital per year. People in the North East will have access to top-notch medical facilities thanks to the hospital.

The three medical colleges--Nalbari Medical College in Nalbari, Nagaon Medical College in Nagaon, and Kokrajhar Medical College in Kokrajhar--each built at a cost about Rs. 615 crore, Rs. 600 crore, and Rs. 535 crore will also be dedicated by the prime minister to the nation. Each medical college is connected to a 500-bed teaching hospital that offers OPD/IPD services like emergency care, intensive care units, occupational therapy, and diagnostic tools, among others. Each medical college would be able to accept 100 MBBS students each year.

The Prime Minister's official launch of the "Aapke Dwar Ayushman" campaign is a step towards realising his objective of reaching out to every recipient in order to guarantee that all social programmes are fully tapped. Three representative beneficiaries will get Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) cards from the prime minister, and thereafter around 1.1 crore AB-PMJAY cards will be distributed throughout the state's districts.

The Prime Minister's vision of "Atmnirbhar Bharat" and "Make in India" in the field of health is one step closer to realisation with the laying of the cornerstone of the Assam Advanced Health Care Innovation Institute (AAHII). The majority of the country's medical technology is imported, was created in a different setting, and is extremely expensive and difficult to employ in an Indian setting. It is intended that AAHII operate in such a setting and that "we find our own solutions for our own problems." The AAHII, which will be constructed for approximately Rs. 546 crore, will support cutting-edge inventions and R&D in healthcare and medicine, identify the nation's specific health challenges, and encourage the creation of innovative solutions to address those problems.

The Prime Minister will arrive at Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati at 5 PM to preside over a public event. There, he will see a vibrant Bihu programme put on by more than 10,000 artists and Bihu dancers. The Prime Minister will also lay the cornerstone for several nation-building projects during the programme, including the commissioning of a 500 TPD menthol plant in Namrup, the laying of the foundation stone for a bridge over the Brahmaputra River connecting Palashbari and Sualkuchi, the laying of the foundation stone for the beautification of Rang Ghar in Sivasagar, and the dedication of five railway projects.
