NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Corporate Affairs' Iconic Week Celebrations in New Delhi today.

The PMO said in a statement that this week is part of the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' (AKAM), which takes place from June 6 to 11. Modi will unveil the Jan Samarth Portal, a national portal for credit-linked government programmes. It is a one-stop digital gateway that connects government credit programmes,  and it's a first-of-its-kind platform that connects beneficiaries to lenders directly, the PMO noted.

The Jan Samarth Portal's major aim is to strengthen equitable growth and development across diverse sectors by directing and providing them with the appropriate government benefits via simple and straightforward digital processes. The gateway ensures that all linked initiatives are covered from beginning to end.

PM Modi will also open a digital exhibition tracing the evolution of the two ministries over the past eight years, and release special series of Rs.1, Rs.2, Rs.5, Rs.10, and Rs.20 coins. These special series of coins will have the theme of the logo of AKAM so that it will also be easily identifiable to visually impaired persons.

The programme will also be held simultaneously at 75 places across the country, with each location connected to the main venue by virtual mode.
