PM Modi to inaugurate DefExpo22, launch new projects worth Rs15,670 cr tomorrow

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaguarte the DefExpo 22 in Gandhinagar tomorrow, October 19. During his two-day trip to Gujarat,  he will also start development projects worth Rs 15,670 crore.

A PMO statement said that the Expo, whose theme is "Path to Pride," will have the most people ever at an exhibition. It will be the first time that only Indian companies, such as Indian branches of foreign companies, divisions of Indian companies, and exhibitors with joint ventures with Indian companies, can show off their defence products. At the India Pavilion of the expo, he will show off the HTT-40, which was designed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). The statement said that the plane has state-of-the-art systems and was made with pilot-friendly features.

During the programme, he will also launch "Mission DefSpace," which will work with industry and startups to come up with new ways for defence forces to use space. Later, he will put the first stone in place for the Deesa airfield in Gujarat. It was said that the forward airforce base would help make the country safer.

On Wednesday, Modi will, among other things, launch the "Mission Schools of Excellence" in Adalaj and lay the foundation stone for several projects to improve Junagadh. The statement said that he will later open the India Urban Housing Conclave 2022 and dedicate and lay the foundation stone for a number of projects in Rajkot. In Rajkot, he will also open an exhibition of new ways to build things in the evening.

On Thursday, the prime minister will launch "Mission LIFE" at Kevadia and then attend the 10th "Heads of Missions" conference there. He will also lay the foundation for several projects to improve Vyara.

During the DefExpo, the second "India-Africa Defence Dialogue" and the second "Indian Ocean Region Plus (IOR+) Conclave" will be held. The theme of the second India-Africa Defence Dialogue is "India-Africa: Adopting strategy for synergizing Defense and Security cooperation."

At the big event, there will be the first-ever Investors' Meet for defence, where more than 100 startups will show off their new ideas and 451 partnerships and launches are likely to be made.

"Mission Schools of Excellence has been planned with a total budget of Rs 10,000 crores. It will help improve education infrastructure in Gujarat by building new classrooms, smart classrooms, computer labs, and upgrading schools' infrastructure as a whole," the statement said.
