NEW DELHI: On October 5, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Himachal Pradesh, where he will kick off a number of projects worth more than Rs. 3,650 crore.  During his trip, the Prime Minister will open the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bilaspur and take part in the well-known Kullu Dussehra celebrations.

In a statement, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said that the opening of AIIMS, Bilaspur shows Prime Minister Modi's vision and commitment to improving health services across the country. The hospital was built under the Centre's Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana, the statement said. Mr. Modi laid the foundation stone for the hospital in October 2017.

AIIMS, Bilaspur is a state-of-the-art hospital that cost more than Rs. 1,470 crore to build. It has 18 specialty departments and 17 super-specialty departments, 18 modular operation theatres, 750 beds, and 64 ICU beds. The hospital is on 247 acres and has facilities for emergencies and dialysis that are open 24 hours a day. It also has modern diagnostic tools like ultrasonography, CT scans, and MRIs. There is also a Jan Aushadhi Kendra and an Ayush block with 30 beds.

The hospital has also opened a Center for Digital Health to help people in tribal and hard-to-reach parts of the state get health care.

Also, the hospital will set up health camps in places like Kaza, Saluni, and Keylong that are hard to reach because they are in tribal areas or high in the Himalayas and aren't easy to get to for medical care. Every year, the hospital will let 100 people into the MBBS programme and 60 people into the nursing programme.

Among other things, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for a project that will add four lanes to NH-105 from Pinjore to Nalagarh. This project will be 31 km long and cost more than Rs. 1,690 crore. He will also lay the cornerstone for Nalagarh's Medical Device Park, which will cost about Rs. 350 crore to build.

The statement said, "It should be noted that the International Kullu Dussehra Festival will be held from October 5 to 11 at Dhalpur Ground in Kullu. This event is unique because it is a gathering of worshippers of more than 300 deities of the valley."

"The Prime Minister will take part in the celebrations for the first time," the statement said.
