Chennai: Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin has written to PM Narendra Modi seeking a reconsideration of the National Monetisation Pipeline Scheme (NMP). Just a day earlier, Stalin had said in the state assembly that he would write to PM Modi in this regard. Stalin wrote in his letter that the Centre could take such decisions after consulting with the stakeholders of states and even these PSUs.

CM Stalin also urged the Centre to reconsider its decision to privatise PSUs, saying these undertakings play an important role in the country's industrialization and self-reliance goals. Stalin wrote that whatever name the central government gives to 'privatisation,' the move will take public assets into the hands of corporate houses or some groups. He said that public undertakings are the right of the common citizens because the states and the people have given land for this so that they can be developed.

Referring to the Centre's National Monetisation Pipeline Scheme, CM Stalin said it is not clear what impact it will have on small and medium industries and employees working there.
